Hurricane Ike weakens, but still dangerous
The National Hurricane Center is urging South Florida today to stay vigilant even though Hurricane Ike has weakened, but some folks apparently don’t need a reminder.
At the Coral Springs Home Depot, the madness started Thursday night, said Chris Pryor, an assistant store manager at the business on University Drive and West Atlantic Boulevard.
Crowds of homeowners packed the store, buying everything from generators and batteries, plywood, propane and metal shutters.
“It started late last night and began early this morning. As soon as people get off work, it’s going to be madness. Right now, it’s controlled madness,” Pryor said.
