The City of Miami is full of Film Festivals! To start with, we have the Miami International Film Festival and The Miami Gay Film Festival. Then, usually around May and June, The Miami Brazilian Film Festival arrives. The Miami Brazilian Film Festival, in its 12th edition, is a highly suggested Miami event. Brazilian film industry is pretty acclaimed worldwide, and this Miami event will feature the best of the best of independent Brazilian movies. Movie lovers should not miss this Miami event!

Attendees will be able to watch over 30 different movies, from drama to comedy and more. This event in Miami will fun from May 5th to June 6th, 2008. Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival will be running from April 25th –May 4th, 2008. This is one of the most popular events in Miami throughout the year, and for sure the biggest event during April and May. If you are interested in good independent movie you must attend this event independently of your sexual orientations.  This Miami’s event is one of the best cultural events of our magical city that features not only amazing films, but it also features great Miami’s parties hosted around popular Miami hotels and Miami attractions.

The official kick off party will be taking place at Miami’s attraction, Miami Science Museum, located at 3280 South Miami Avenue in Coconut Grove. Other event in Miami you should not miss during the Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival is the Opening Night Party that will take place at Jungle Island, one of the most popular Miami attractions close to Miami Beach, located at 1111 Parrot Jungle Trail, Miami. For all fashion fans, it is the 11 Minutes Fashion Show, who will follow projects Runway’s winner, Jay McCaroll, from his documentary screening at Regal Theater. This event will take place at the Dorset at the Catalina Hotel situated at 1732 Collins Avenue, South Beach. And, of course, I could not missing from mention the Closing Gala at the Miami Art Space MA located at 244 NW 35th Street, Wynwood Art District.

The Miami International Film Festival 2008 is already in town. This popular event in Miami is celebrating its 25^th edition with 120 films, workshops, and seminars. If you like movies, good movies I mean, there will be a great selection this year. You can enjoy the best of independent movies for the next 30 days.

You can buy tickets by phone calling at 305-405-MIFF (6433) from Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Also, you can get your tickets in person during the festival at the Regal South Beach Cinema 18, located at 110 Lincoln Road, from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. In person, during the Festival: Patrons may purchase SAME DAY TICKETS ONLY at Festival venues. These box offices open one hour before the first screening of the day. The ticket prices move from $7 for students to $25 in the case of special screenings like the opening night. The General admission is $12. Cash preferred.
