Tropical Storm Marie strengthens slightly

The National Hurricane Center says Tropical Storm Marie has strengthened slightly as it churns out in the Pacific.

The storm’s maximum sustained winds have increased to near 60 mph early Friday. The hurricane center says some additional strengthening is possible.

Marie is centered about 855 miles west-southwest of the southern tip of Baja California, Mexico. The storm is moving west near 6 mph on a path that’s taking it farther away from Mexico’s coast.

New IMAX theater opening at the AMC Aventura

Movie studios are releasing their films on the IMAX format in increasing numbers, so it stands to reason that more IMAX theaters are sprouting up. Beginning Sept. 26, the AMC Aventura 24 in North Miami will join the IMAX family, with a giant-screen auditorium equipped with a digital projection system that will allow them to screen films in 2D and 3D formats.
