Hurricane forecaster predicts three named storms in October
Hurricane Gustav triggered killer floods in Haiti, a spike in oil prices and fear throughout the Gulf Coast as forecasters said it is all but certain to grow into a major hurricane by this weekend.
Federal forecasters today boosted their predictions for the 2008 Atlantic hurricane season.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is now calling for 14-18 named storms, including seven to 10 hurricanes, with three to six of those being intense with winds greater than 110 mph.
