International Tourism Vs. Slowing Trends - Miami Guide

Thursday, July 24th, 2008

During a time of sky-rocketing food and oil prices and global warming, pressure is leaving households on a budget. However, despite the trend in the economy, international tourism actually grew year-on-year by about 5% by April of 2008 according to the United Nations World Tourism Organization. UNWTO is releasing a prediction in their bi-annual World Tourism Barometer next week that the withstanding growth will continue to increase through 2008. A weakened economy and built-up desire left over since the 9/11 security increase seems to have converted into a travel boom

All tourist destinations have profited from the tourism increase in 2008, although it happened faster for North America due to the weaker dollar. On the other hand, everything evolved more slowly in Europe because of a stronger euro. The top three travel destinations benefited rank in the following order:

1. Middle East
2. Asia
3. Latin America

Egypt, Morocco, China, South Korea, Cambodia, Nepal, El Salvador, Peru, Sweden, Latvia, Montenegro and Israel all underwent double digit growth rates.

Although they can not perform any miracles for Global Warming, UNTWO believes that tourism can help the economies current financial state as it balances payments and promotes the work of farmers, fishers, handcrafters and those in the hospitality industry.

Is Jason Taylor out of Miami Dolphins? - Miami Dolphins News

Friday, May 23rd, 2008

Early this week a controversy evolving Miami Dolphins’ Jason Taylor emerged. It seems the soon to be ex-NFL player wants to slow down his football career in order to pursue an acting career. Taylor recently said to the media that he still wanted to play football, but no more with the Miami Dolphins.

Jason Taylor participated in the last season of the popular TV “Dancing with the Stars” where he displayed a bit of charisma. His sudden popularity might be the reason why Taylor is so into pursuing an acting career using “Dancing with the Stars” as a platform.

It is still unknown if Taylor is out of the Miami Dolphins. However, we do know he isn’t participating in Miami’s off-season workout program. It seems like taking acting classes and auditions is time-consuming; therefore, Taylor’s scheduled is pretty tied.

Afterwards, Taylor is facing a difficult choice. He can continue his pursuit of the Super Bowl ring that has eluded him through 11 standout NFL seasons, or can retire to take advantage of his popularity in Hollywood from his “Dancing with the Stars” appearances.

Super Car Life, Miami Events, Luxury Cars Miami

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008

Super Car Life is a Massachusetts-based company that allows, for fees starting at $4990, regular people to drive some of the fastest cars around. The experience now in Florida at the Homestead- Miami Speedway consists of an evening hanging out with race drivers, followed by a full day whipping around a racetrack in about $1.5 million worth of horse power. You will be able to drive a $173,000 Ferrari F430, the $170,000 Lamborghini Gallardo, the $166,000 Aston Martin DB9, the $135,000 Mercedes CLK63, and the $190,000 Porsche Turbo 997.

For four months in the winter, Super Car Life brings this emotion to South Florida, where costumers have the change to seat in the driver’s seat of some of the most exotic and fastest cars on earth. It is important to mention, that the program includes professional instructors in charge of giving the main rules and guidelines that will avoid any accident. If you are a fan of speed but you do not have $5000, there are some options for you in Miami. In Miami and South Beach, there are several luxury car rentals and exotic car rentals that allow people to drive their dream car. Renting a luxury car from a rental agency is, of course, cheaper than going to the race track. Furthermore, in some cases the accessibility of the prices will surprise you. The only think you must take in consideration is that you must be careful since speeding fines are enforced when driving around the city, even more when the live of someone might be at risk.

No need to wait for the Art Basel! Miami Events and Tourism

Monday, March 17th, 2008

Miami tourism has flourished the last couple of decades. Most people think about Miami and the first thing that come to their minds are nightlife and sunny beaches. Nonetheless, in recent times the art and cultural life in Miami has gotten strong offering much to see and to do to a more sophisticated tourist. The primary place to witness Miami’s art offer isn’t, of course, Miami Beach, yet across Biscayne Bay the Wynwood Art District. Before the Art Basel Festival came to Miami, the Wynwood District was just a wasteland with a handful of pioneer galleries and private collections such as the Rubell Family Collection. However, in the past few years several galleries have opened in the area bringing a new vibe to Miami Florida.

Nowadays, there are 70 galleries high-end like the Spinello Gallery and David Castillo Gallery, to internationally acclaimed galleries such as Fredric Snitzer, Kevin Bruk, and Emmanuel Perrotin. All the galleries are around shops and clothing wholesalers with concrete facades freshly painted in purples, pinks and charcoals giving to the area a bohemian atmosphere. The new development of the Wynwood Art District it might be possible thanks to the cheap rents, too much space, and plenty of parking spaces.

As a consequence of all mentioned, Miami is not longer limited to a four-day event held in December. The Art Basel is no more the primary art scenery in Miami, private collections, galleries, and alternative spaces are exploding faster in the Wynwood District and the Design District.

It is the second Saturday of the month is when many galleries time their new shows. During the second Saturdays, galleries host white-wine receptions and openings usually followed by parties at the bohemian bars nearby.
